The first big update of 2014, Version 1.2, is here! Take a look below to familiarise yourself with the new content that it brings to the game.
If you're one of those glory-hungry perfectionists who always relentlessly pursues extra ways to distinguish yourself, then the newly introduced Weekly Missions are what you've been waiting for! Starting this Friday, you’ll find a fresh batch of tasks to complete every week that will grant you great rewards upon completion. The best thing about it is that you don’t need to change your play style at all in order to reap the additional bonuses. All you need to do is play as you always do, and let the mission system track on its own what objectives you’ve completed in the process.
The second big part of the latest update is the addition of the long-awaited Battle Replay function. Thanks to this new feature, you can now save replays of your battles to share with your friends or watch them again later yourself. Speed up or slow down the playback and enjoy stunning slow-motion shots that will showcase the beauty of dogfights like never before! Analyse your performance in the game by fast-forwarding, rewinding, pausing or zooming in on the action and find that critical moment that changed the course of the battle.
Another cool way to track your in-game achievements is to study and share the redesigned and improved Battle Results window. Not only has it been moved from the battle to the hangar, but it has also been enhanced with a new look, new personal stats and a clearer overview of your whole team’s performance. As well as giving you all the relevant information on your current game, it also tracks the progress of the ongoing Weekly Missions and displays everything neatly in one comprehensive interface.
The majority of German, British, U.S. and Soviet planes have had some characteristics recalibrated in the new update. The changes should allow players to better feel the differences between the various tiers, classes and individual aircraft models. In addition, all modified planes will now more closely resemble their real life counterparts from history.
There will also be some changes to the XP price of certain modules and planes. Players who researched a Tier VII-IX plane before the implementation of Version 1.2 but haven't yet researched the next plane in the tech-tree will receive automatic compensation. The amount of compensation will be equal to the difference between the XP price for the next aircraft in the tech-tree in Version 1.1.2 , and the new XP price in Version 1.2. See the full list of changes in the Patch Notes.
The economics, physics, matchmaker, damage model, shooting and most notably the visibility system have all been slightly retouched in order to ensure a better gameplay experience. The developers have worked on each of these elements to both increase realism and simplify calculation methods which should lead to better performance during your upcoming gaming sessions.
