The End of the Year Festivities have started and that means it’s time for you to keep your eyes open for all kinds of opportunities to snatch up exclusive items, sizeable discounts or even completely free aircraft!
One such opportunity is the hereby announced Winter Marathon. At its finish line you’ll be able to get the Yakovlev Yak-3RD in your own hangar as the grand prize! This fighter, that’s normally worth 6,600 in-game or €25.39 in the Premium Shop, is a great plane with unique flight characteristics – and you should not miss out on adding it to your collection for free!
What’s the catch? You’ll have to complete five special missions, each also carrying its own individual reward, to unlock the grand prize. Take a look at the overview below and prepare to start logging some flying time because you’re about to embark on your first virtual marathon!

Basically, this small fighter can be summarised as a Yak-3 with a jet engine. However, there is more to the Yak-3RD than just the added propulsion. Compared to the Yak-3 standard model, the Premium fighter comes with an increased durability, which gives this particular representative of the fragile Yak-line higher survivability chances right off the bat. On top of that, the stronger engine allows for a significant boost to the plane’s rate of climb and overall speed values. The fact that it also retains its amazing 13 second average time to turn ratio, despite the added horsepower, comes as the cherry on top. Lastly, the new engine also comes with another caveat, namely the fact that it raises the Yak-3RD operational ceiling to a respectable 1,800m – a first, not only for the Yak-line, but for all low-flying Soviet aircraft on Tier VII.
