This article will give you an overview of how the Open Beta of World of Warplanes is going to work and how it’s different from the previous testing stages. Read on to find all the essential information you’ll need to be able to enjoy your testing experience.
As we transition into Open Beta, the game’s current version 0.4.3 will be renamed to 0.5.0. However, apart from a few necessary adjustments to accommodate the new Open Beta arrivals, there are no significant content additions right now. Of course, “real” updates, including new content, improvements and fixes, are in the works and will be released as usual throughout the duration of the open beta.
You can read the full 0.5.0 patch notes on the dedicated page.
The Open Beta will be divided into two phases, of which the first will start on July 4th. In order to level the playing field for all players, we’ve performed a complete reset of all gains achieved by players during the previous stages of testing. Amassed credits will be erased so that everybody will have to start saving up from scratch. However, in order for you to be able to try out all the aspects of the game, we’ll distribute each player with a certain amount of “tokens”. These will replace the previous test gold, and help you in your grind up the tech trees. How many tokens a player gets will depend on the amount of experience that was earned during the prior test stages of the game. During Phase 1 of Open Beta, all players will be given Premium Account status.
In Phase 2 of Open Beta, the date of which will be announced at a later point, all running Premium playing time will be wiped out along with any remaining tokens, which will be converted into credits. From this point on, players will only be able to purchase Premium with newly-earned tokens, which will be awarded for played battles.
