Welcome pilots,
Another month, another new version of World of Warplanes. With update 0.4.2 we march (or rather glide) on the steady wings of our busy development team towards yet another version of the game that brings you many new features and design enhancements.
The probably biggest difference that you’ll spot immediately after entering your hangars will be the new panels for managing your freshly introduced equipment, ammo and consumable setups. From now on you’ll be able to customise your plane even further by equipping it with special parts such as scopes, lacquers and reinforced skins that will all improve certain qualities of your performance ever so slightly, giving you that edge that you’re looking for against your opponents.
And since every flying ace knows that improving just the hardware is not enough, we also included a first set of consumables for your crew members with first-aid kits, fire extinguishers and others that will make sure to have your soldiers at the top of their game at all times.
To top it all off, we’re proud to announce the introduction of a new feature that will allow you to choose between different ammunition types, so you can find just the right type of shell that will blow your opponents out of the sky.
Obviously, the introduction of all these new goodies to buy means you now have much more to spend your hard-earned credits on! That’s why we’ve rebalanced our economy system, reducing repair costs of all the air planes in the game, so that at the end of the day, you have more in your virtual wallet to spend on customised plane upgrades, rather than have your coin “go to waste” on JUST fixing your aircraft.
We’ve also been working hard on the various control schemes to make your virtual flight experience more precise, reactive and thus more enjoyable. With the now improved control input responsiveness, we’re confident that you’ll be able to achieve great results in even the most heated dog fights. We know that you care deeply about the issue and will continue to listen to your feedback in this matter.
To increase your proficiency in the skies, where every second lost can be one second too many, our developers have tweaked the combat interface to ensure that you always see everything you need on first (and now even shorter) glance. Combine this with the new ability to adjust window sizes, and you’ll see that you have all the tools to make your flight experience as comfortable as you want it to be.
Lastly, out of the many things we’ve added to the 0.4.2 version, we want to mention the many balance tweaks that will help to improve the overall ‘feel’ of the game. From plane performances and module characteristics to weapon behavior and even game mode settings – we’ve retouched the most crucial aspects of the game to make it fairer for beginners and more enticing to hardened veterans. Naturally, since the game is being designed to provide fun for weeks, months and possibly even years to all sorts of players, this part of the development is at the core of our efforts and gets quite a big deal of attention, hence we couldn’t let it go unnoticed.
Of course all of these points represent only a selection of the most prominent additions in the latest version. If you want greater detail, you can to check out the full 0.4.2 patch notes on the forum.
As usual, if you’re a beta tester, don’t hesitate to leave your feedback in the appropriate sections so that our Community Representatives can forward it to the development team.
If you’re not a World of Warplanes tester yet, then it’s not too late to apply for the Closed Beta Test! We’re still adding new players into the test. If you’ve already applied and are still waiting for your invitation, please remain patient and hopefully we’ll see you all in aerial combat in the near future!
Alright, Pilots! Enough said! Go out and get airborne with the new version already!
