November 11^th is a special day for veterans all around the world. In countries such as France, New Zealand and Serbia, the event is known as Armistice Day. The UK, Canada and Australia celebrate it as Remembrance Day. In the case of Poland, the end of the Great War is also connected to the country regaining its independence after 123 years of partition, so the date is recognized as the national Independence Day. In the United States on the other hand, it is the people who brought about the end of the war who are paid homage. After all, it was the sacrifice of the brave soldiers engaged in the conflict that brought an end to the horrors of the Great War. That is why the Americans celebrate the date as Veterans Day.
