80 years ago on March 5th, a prototype aircraft with the inconspicuous model name K5054 took off for its first flight from the Eastleigh Aerodrome in the South of England. It is said that, upon landing, its pilot – Captain Joseph “Mutt” Summers – proclaimed “It’s perfect, don’t touch a thing!” to the assembled engineers observing the test run on the ground. Nobody present knew, at the time, that they had just witnessed the birth of the most legendary fighter in all of British aviation history. That plane, of course, was the first prototype of the Spitfire and, this weekend, we want to celebrate its maiden voyage with a dedicated special in-game.
