This weekend we are focusing on one of the most famous French fighter squadrons from the Second World War. The creation of the Normandie-Niemen Regiment came from Charles de Gaulle's suggestion, who felt that it was important that the French served on any and all fronts in the war. This fighter squadron was one of only two Allied air combat units which participated on the Eastern Front during World War II.
