This weekend, we commemorate the Guadalcanal Campaign, which saw the first major offensive by Allied Forces against the Empire of Japan. The Guadalcanal Campaign was a significant strategic combined-arms victory for the Allies in the Pacific Theatre. The strategic initiative in the theatre resulted in offensive operations such as the Solomon Islands, New Guinea and more, which lead the to eventual surrender of the Japanese and the end of World War II.
