The Supermarine Spitfire V DB 605 experienced a fleeting existence after a British Spitfire was captured by Germany in 1942, repainted, and equipped with an engine from their own DB 605. It proved popular with German pilots and was used frequently, until a US air raid destroyed it in 1944.
