This plane is the Soviet version of the American P-40 Kittyhawk. Since it consists of almost the same modules, it features similarly strong flight characteristics as its big brother. The main difference is the M-105 engine, which is just marginally weaker in terms of airspeed, but in return makes the plane perform better at lower altitudes. With the P-40 M-105 you get superior firepower from the start, without having to save up for expensive upgrades. All in all this a very solid fighter with no real drawbacks to speak of.
The Miles M.20 was designed by the British in 1940 as a cheaper and quicker to build alternative to their main war birds Spitfire and Hurricane. However, due to the way that the Battle of Britain turned out, there was never any real need for it, which is why the M.20 never saw any action and only remained a prototype. Now you can discover this forgotten fighter in the game and judge for yourself if it had been a match for the famous Spitfire.
This initial prototype of the famous F4U-1 Corsair never saw any wide-spread use despite boasting quite formidable flight characteristics that would set it apart from other aircraft of its kind. While it can't carry rockets or bombs like some other carrier-based fighters, it excels in battle due to its strong frame and superiour manoeuvrability. Don't make the mistake of dismissing this aircraft as just another prototype. Once you learn how to use, you'll see that it's capable of standing up to the best of them.
If the original IL-2 has one drawback, it's the lack of a rear gunner to protect its six. This mistake has been corrected on the modified IL-2 Premium version with the addition of a potent 7.62 mm ShKAS rear machine gun. So although you take a hit in HP due to a slightly weaker hull, your overall life expectancy will increase ten-fold in the sky with the added back protection. As is customary with any IL attack aircraft, you get a boatload of options to strap on additional outboard weapons such as rockets and bombs as well. That way you can match the performance of your plane exactly to your game style needs.
This plane, initially created as a prototype to set a new high-speed record, was redesigned in 1943 for military use to replace the aging Bf 109 model. However, the development was halted due to conflicting orders to prioritise the Me 262 and upcoming competitors from Focke-Wulf. In the game you find this fighter on Tier V, boasting a stronger version of the powerful Daimler Benz engine than the regular Bf 109 E has, albeit with a little less firepower and upgradability.
The Bf.110C-6 is a modified version of the Bf.110B. It boasts the same strong flight capabilities of a regular heavy fighter, only with the additional help of a little more punch. Its powerful 30mm MK 101 anti-tank cannon will rip your opponents to shreds before they even know you're coming. Get yourself into the middle of a melee dog fight and blast your enemies out of the sky!
This tiny American tier IV fighter is one of the fastest planes of the tier, and has the manoeuvrability to match. However, what it has in speed, it lacks in firepower. Still, this aircraft can be very effective when harrassing its enemies by circling around them and plugging first holes in their hulls for your other teammates to finish off. A great supporter which will soon prove invaluable for your squad.
If you prefer to stay out of the fast-paced dogfights whilst still assisting your team, then the LBSh is for you! This Soviet attack aircraft is very much the iconic bomber - it is slow and tough, but deadly when unleashing the precious cargo of bombs. A single bomb from this monster is enough to destroy a ground target, and the good news is that it carries four of them! Help your team get an early superiority advantage and then assist your team as best you can - your guns and speed are poor, but your rear gunner packs a reasonable punch. Present yourself as a tempting target for an enemy fighter and let your team-mates do the rest.
