Pilots,
While we wait collectively for Version 1.5 to arrive, we wanted to take the time to introduce you to its main new feature: the Battle Against Bots battle type. Some of you may have already tried it during our Public Test of the new update. For those of you who didn’t, here’s a little tutorial on how this battle type will work and how to get started with it once the game goes live.
Standard Battle in any of the “World of…”-games is always the traditional 15v15-PvP-mode where real human players face off against each other. However, while this mode is and always will be the mainstay of Wargaming-titles, our designers have noticed that newcomers had a tough time getting started in this mode in World of Warplanes.
This is why, in Version 1.5, we’re introducing the new Battle Against Bots battle type. In it, rather than play against other humans, you’ll play cooperatively with other humans against NPC bots. Three to five human players enter a battle together on the same team. The rest of their team as well as all of the fifteen opponents are controlled by the computer. There will still be thirty planes in every battle that you play. However, in Battle Against Bots, only up to five of them will be controlled by actual human players.
Since the computer bots are programmed to be less relentless than real human players, anybody playing Battle Against Bots should be able to enjoy the game with a simpler degree of difficulty. As such the new battle type should be much more appealing for beginners, or anybody who simply wants to test out a freshly unlocked plane in a more laid-back environment.
1. By default, you’ll have Standard Battle selected. To enter Battle Against Bots, first thing that you’ll want to do is click on the mode-selection sub-menu to the right of the Battle!-button.
2. Simply choose Battle Against Bots from the appearing sub-menu.
3. If you’re launching Battle Against Bots for the first time, a window will appear, showing you an overview of the main rules and features of the new battle type.
4. After that simply hit the orange Battle!-button to enter the queue. You will be redirected to the waiting screen where you can see the number of players, sorted by flown class and tier, who have queued up alongside with you. As soon as three to five human players of the same tier are found, your battle starts.
5. Once in battle, you will notice how all the human players are always shown at the top of your team’s list. All the other players on your team as well as on the enemy’s team are bots. You can tell that they are bots by looking at their names because they are all marked with <> tags.
6. Simply start playing as you would in Standard Battle or Training Mode. Note that there are also new achievements for Battle Against Bots that you’ll be able to earn as you fly in this battle type.
7. If you do your job well, you and your team will achieve victory against the bots. Now it’s time to relax and admire the new ending cinematic that plays at the end of each battle.
Since Battle Against Bots features a different degree of difficulty, there are a few special rules that apply here as opposed to the regular Standard Battle.
That’s it. Now you know everything there is to know about the new Battle Against Bots! Our designers will keep monitoring the results of the battle type to make sure it evolves nicely along with the rest of the game. We’re excited for the introduction of Battle Against Bots and hope that you are too.
Try the new battle type in the upcoming 1.5 Version, pilots!
