Some of you may remember that we ran some rather exciting contests over the Christmas and New Year period, both creative and in-game (for Closed Beta testers at the time), the winners of which earned the opportunity to come and visit our European Headquarters in Paris for the weekend.
Our lucky (and talented!) winners were _Grim_, for managing to destroy over 3500 planes during the 7-day long “challenge” we set players between Christmas and New Year, and Elnor1, for his very innovative and different entry in our ‘Building an Aircraft’ comic contest, and they hailed from Bulgaria and the Czech Republic respectively.
_Grim_ and Elnor1 both arrived here in Paris on Friday 19 April, ready and waiting to be shown the sights, so we took them out for dinner with some of the members of our Community Team and began planning the best way to make sure they would be able to experience as much of Paris as possible during their visit…
Thus it was that we found ourselves (myself – Pixyl – and the Czech Community Manager, Tuccy) accompanying our guests to the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace, one of the oldest aviation museums in the world, situated just north of Paris.
We spent a fascinating day exploring the various collections at the museum, which ranged from very early aircraft of French design, through various World War II planes, on to a number of interesting post-war prototypes… all the way up to two retired Concordes, housed in their own specific hangar.
The following day saw our group divide in two, to better serve the specific sightseeing requests of our two guests, and our Czech Community Team accompanied Elnor1 to the Musée de L’Armée at the Hôtel national des Invalides, while _Grim_ and I made our way to the Château de Versailles in order to check out the palace gardens and their famous fountains in action.
We reconvened in the evening for a meal while the sun went down, so that afterwards we could take advantage of the late Eiffel Tower opening hours to experience the night-time panorama from the very top – always a memorable sight!
Our two winners sadly had to head their respective ways on the Monday morning, but we hope that they had a fantastic “prize” experience here in Paris, and that they’ve taken home plenty of good memories (in addition to the many photographs!).
We certainly enjoyed their visit, and it was great fun having the opportunity to show them a small part of this beautiful city and the European Wargaming office, of course.
