70th Anniversary of D-Day: Event and Contest

Dear players,

This year is the 70^th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy! A lot of events will be organised along the Norman coast (parachutists, exhibitions, parades of tanks and planes, shows...), and we will be there to attend a few! You can consult the full list of events in English on this website.

We are also holding a creative contest for you to share your artistic vision of this historical event!

 For those of you who are planning on going to Normandy for this occasion, on the 4^th and 5^th you will be able to meet us at the Normandy Tank Museum:

It will be our temporary headquarters for the two days of the event. The first 150 players to come will also get free entrance into the museum!

You might also come across some of our staff members in Carentan, as well as around Utah Beach and Omaha Beach. Feel free to say hello and have a quick chat with them!

Please note that our team will be speaking French and English only – it could be a good time to practice!

On the 6^th we will be in Arromanches (the city of the famous D-Day museum) for the main events, like the WWII tanks show on the beach.  Just stay tuned on our Social Media channels to follow our little trip and more easily track where we are!

 We will end our D-Day tour with an event closer to Paris on the weekend:
“Le Temps des Hélices”! On the 7^th and 8^th, you will be able to meet us in La Ferté Alais for this famous French airshow.

The morning will be dedicated to the exhibition of 150 historical planes, and you can even get to fly in a few of them, like the Ju 52 or the Antonov AN2!

 Finally, in the afternoon, you will be able to witness the flight of a hundred planes!

“70^th Anniversary of D-Day” Contest

This contest is open to EU players from all our games: World of Tanks, World of Tanks Xbox 360 edition, World of Warplanes and World of Warships.

You can enter this contest by submitting your original image or video in one of our two categories.

You have 2 options to take part in the contest:

(1) Submit an illustration of D-Day depicting tanks, planes and ships

(2) Create a video about D-Day & Wargaming with footage from the game (cinematics can be included). You can also use images or videos from public archives.

 Your creation must be made in accordance with Wargaming’s End User License Agreement and Terms of Service. The goal is to emphasise the idea of freedom that was the driving force of the D-Day operation. Any submission including sensitive or violent elements won’t be taken into account (see details in the rules below). It’s also worth keeping in mind that not all tanks, planes and ships were present during this historical battle and so historical accuracy will be taken into account.

 You can enter this contest by submitting your original image or video in one of our two categories:

• Your creation has to match the theme: “Wargaming & D-Day”
  (1) Illustrations category - draw an Illustration with tanks, planes and ships. This category covers all types of drawings from handmade/pencil sketches to computer-drawn images.
  (2) Video category - create a short video of no more than 1 minute in length about this historical event with footage from the games and archived images/videos.
  Warning: For your submission to be valid it must not include sensitive or violent elements like dead bodies, blood, soldiers in action, political speeches, etc. It can, however, include vehicle or building destruction.

 All illustrations, regardless of whether they are created by brush, by pencil, with computer software, etc., will be judged as one category.

1. The organiser of this competition is Wargaming.net Europe SAS, 30 Cours de l’île Seguin 92100, Boulogne Billancourt, France (“Wargaming”).
2. By entering the contest, you acknowledge that you have read the complete set of rules and agree with them.
3. The Contest is available for all the players from EU server with valid Wargaming.net accounts.
   Employees of Wargaming or of any of its affiliates, including their family or household members, may not participate in the competition.
4. The contest will run from 26 May 2014 until 15 June 2014 at 11:59pm CEST (UTC+2).
5. Only one entry per player is allowed; either in the Illustration category or the Video category.
6. By entering the contest, you agree that your submission can be published and used by Wargaming.net.
7. By entering the contest, you agree to not submit copyrighted material or materials that have been previously published on the internet or are against our rules and policies.
8. By entering the contest, you agree that you are the author of the content/material that you are submitting
9. The list of rewards available for this contest is detailed in the tables above.
10. The rewards are not game specific and will not be modified or exchanged in regards to game preferences.
11. In the case of non-compliance with the rules or failure to relate closely enough to the theme, we will not be able to take your participation into account.
12. In order to enter the competition, you must submit a valid entry according to the following :

• The goal of this creative contest is to draw a D-Day Illustration for Wargaming with historically accurate tanks, planes and ships OR create a short video trailer of the historical event “D-Day”.
• The Illustration category covers all types of drawings from handmade sketches with a pencil to illustrations drawn using computer software.
• The Video category covers all videos consisting of in-game footage and archived pictures/video of D-Day. The submission cannot exceed 1 minute in length and may only contain sound or music obtained from Wargaming Games.
• To participate you must post your Illustration or your Video in the dedicated forum thread with the following information:
  Your GamerTag if you play World of Tanks Xbox 360 Edition: if you are one of the winners and mention your GamerTag in your entry, the reward will be credited to your Xbox Live account only. On the contrary, if you don’t mention your GamerTag and are one of the winners, you will receive your reward on your Wargaming.net account.
  Your submission or a link to your submission
• Each Illustration must be in a common picture format (.jpg, png, bmp)
• Each Video must be hosted on either YouTube, Daily motion or Vimeo and comply with their rules and guidelines.
